WEEK OF JANUARY 28 – FEBRUARY 1, 2013
What an exciting time for our third graders! We had a wonderful Skype conference with the
renowned archeologist Ricardo Agurcia last
Thursday. (For information about Mr. Agurcia’s remarkable trajectory click on http://www.sas.upenn.edu/anthro/people/Agurcia-Fasquelle
) . Our students were part of the great learning experience of talking to the
discoverer of the Rosalila temple in Copan in 1989. Thanks to Pucci Agurcia for
making this possible.
To expand our knowledge on the Mayan Civilization even
more, we went to the Observatory at the
UNAH to participate in an interactive workshop about Mayan numbers,
calendars and games. Our students had a wonderful time! We want to thank
Yessica, Yudia, Balbina, Ana, Gina and Nimo who volunteered as chaperones for
this activity.
Our third graders are doing an outstanding job in the MAP
assessment. Last week they all compared their Math results to the initial
scores of this school year, and to their goals for the semester. This week,
they will be taking the MAP Reading
Assessment (3A will take it on Wednesday Jan 30 from 10:10-11:45 a.m., and
3B will take it on Thursday, January 31 from 8:30-9:55 a.m.) We appreciate your
cooperation in making sure your child is in school on time and after a good
night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast.
WE ALSO WANT TO REMIND OUR PARENTS THAT THIS WEDNESDAY
IS AN EARLY DISMISSAL DAY (11:45 – PM schedule).
