WEEK OF NOVEMBER 4 – 8,

Thank you once again to Ana, Dorelena, Deborah and Sandra
for providing the Book Character Day snacks and drinks. The students had a
great day showing their characters to the Lower Elementary students, and then
watching the much awaited “The Witches” movie.
SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT: The Science Fair
Packets were distributed during the student led conferences last week. The
first deadline for the packet is this Monday, November 5. Every third grader
needs to have their PROJECT PROPOSAL completed and ready for your
teacher to check. Please check the NEW PAGE that has been
added to the right of our blog for some ideas and topics that may be interesting
to work on.
This week we will be working on the following:
v
Math:
we will have our first test on multiplication on Tuesday, November 6. We will
spend the rest of the week learning about 3, 4, 6, and 7 as factors. We will be
learning some other ticks and jingles for these facts. At this time, it is a
good idea to start practicing the facts for fast recall. There are many games
and online sites that children can use to practice. Some of these are:
v
Theme:
We will start our Science Unit this
week on ROCKS AND MINERALS. We will observe 12 rocks, understand how rocks are
formed, and observe 3 minerals.
v
R/W
Workshop: we will finish reading Sarah, Plain and Tall, writing reflections
in our composition notebook, and discussing the reading. We will also be working on response to
literature activities in class. Don’t fall behind
v
Spelling:
because of our group’s needs in writing,
we will be covering lesson 16 /contractions/ this week. Our students will be
divided into different groups for differentiated instruction. The Quiz will be
on Friday.
v
Handwriting: letters /x/ and /g/ in cursive.
YUMMY! There will be a
MINUTA DAY this Friday, November 9.
Please support the ABSH Language Arts Committee by purchasing Minutas on
that day (L25).
