WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 10-14, 2012
Another short and exciting week lies ahead in 3rd grade. This week we will be working on the following:
o Math: finding the value of bills and coins, making change, and practicing our problem solving skills like last week. For extra practice on the money skills, PLEASE set aside a little time to practice using these links:
o Theme: we have successfully completed our CITIZENSHIP Unit, and the 3rd graders have created wonderful posters that are displayed in the school cafeteria. We now begin our Science Unit on PLANTS this week. We will be observing a lima bean, identifying and labeling the parts of a seed.
o Spelling: we will continue working with lesson 4 (long /e/ and /i/) sounds). The quiz will be this Wednesday, September 12.
o R/W: This week we will be reading chapters 4, 5, and 6 in The Hundred Dresses, continue discussing the novel in class and writing reflections in our journals, We want to remind you that the deadline for Novel and Packet is next Tuesday September 18.
o Handwriting: letter /e/
DESAYUNO / SNACK TIPICO – You will be receiving an email from Roberto`s mom asking for your cooperation. Please respond to her email as soon as you can. Our Tipico Pot Luck will take place on Thursday, September 13 at 9:20 a.m. Remember this is an early dismissal day.
DPTO Meeting – Wednesday, September 12 at 7:45 am. Please come to this meeting, especially if you want to help out and be involved in the U. N. Day Celebration in October.
