WEEK OF OCTOBER 1 -5,
2012
Wow! October is already
here!! This is what we will be working on this week:
·
Math: we
will draw pictures to represent information in a word problem, and continue
working with addition and subtraction of two and three digit numbers with and
without regrouping, giving special attention to subtracting across zeros.
·
Theme: we
will observe the anatomy of a flower, learn about the process of pollination,
and make a Brassica flower model. We
need each third grader to bring a toilet paper cardboard roll as soon as you
can.
·
R/W Workshop:
we will continue with independent reading, and will be focusing on Verbs for
our grammar lessons (action verbs, helping verbs and verbs in past tense). Don’t fall behind on the reading of your home
novel-this is due on October 16.
·
Spelling:
lesson 8 is about the /o/ sound (patterns /ou/ and /ow/). The quiz will be on
Friday.
·
Handwriting:
letter /a/ in cursive.
Our final MAP test (for Language Usage) is this
Tuesday, October 2. Please try not to miss school this day.
The School Cafeteria is organizing an Elementary Parent Luncheon for Friday, Ocotber 19. This is a great opportunity for parents to come and have lunch with their child(ren). Please mark your calendars!
