WEEK OF MAY 6 - 10,
2013
Thanks to all the parents who accompanied us to our field
trip last Friday. The children had a great time shopping, cooking and eating
the fraction pizzas!
This week we will be working on the following:
·
Math: write comparison statements using graphs, use
a coordinate grid, read and interpret line graphs and making bar graphs.
·
Science:
the third graders will be designing and elaborating a musical instrument. They
will present it to the class, illustrating the key concepts they have learned
in this unit and how they relate to their instruments. We will begin our
Economics Unit on Thursday, reviewing concepts such as goods and services,
needs and wants, and different kinds of resources.
·
R/W
Workshop: this week each child will be researching the biography of a
person they admire, and will be completing an outline for a small oral
presentation. We have a great selection of Roald Dahl and Beverly Cleary books
at school. We are asking that each student choose one book, read it for their
home novel this month, and tell their classmates about it when they are
finished.
·
Spelling:
lesson 34 is about compound words. The quiz will be on Friday.
·
Handwriting:
this week we will work with letter /L/
